Aim of this article:
This article describes how to configure the SpeedTouch 5x6 for bridging mode. The router will become transparent to the network, used only as a modem via a PPPoE connection on a suitable router.
Before beginning
To make the configuration changes to the router you will need the following template file:
bridg5x6.tpl
You will need to transfer this file to your SpeedTouch router via ftp.
You can do this using Windows Explorer. Open an Explorer window such as My Computer and type the following into the address bar:
ftp://Administrator@192.168.1.254/dl/
This will connect to the SpeedTouch router's FTP directory.
NOTE: If you have changed the default username, password or IP address of the SpeedTouch router you will need to enter the correct details in this format.
ftp://USERNAME:PASSWORD@IPADDRESS/dl/

You can then simply copy and paste or drag and drop the template file to the SpeedTouch.

Once the template file has been moved to the SpeedTouch you should launch the set up wizard. This can be done by browsing to the SpeedTouch's configuration page at: http://192.168.1.254/ and click the "SpeedTouch" link on the left.

Next, under Pick a task..., click Set Up. This will launch the wizard.

Click Next to continue.

Choose Bridged Mode from the list and click Next.

All configuration information is already contained within the template, simply click Next.

Click Start to confirm and make the configuration change to the router.

This screen will show while the configuration is written to the router.

Depending on the firmware installed on your SpeedTouch router you will either see the above screen, confirming that the changes have been written to the router or you will loose connection to the router, this is normal.
You may now connect to the Internet using a PPPoE enabled router.
NOTE: If you wish to alter the configuration of the router at any future time the device will need to be factory reset via the reset button located on the back.
