Broadband - Email: Setting up email on a Samsung Galaxy S3


Aim of this article:

This artile provides a step-by-step guide for configuring a Samsung Galazy S3 phone to send and receive email using an email address you have configured through the Zen customer Portal.  This type of address will look similar to the example below:
  • alpha@vectorsigma.myzen.co.uk

Before starting:

  • If you have not yet setup an email address then please refer to this guide to creating an email address in the Zen Customer Portal.
  • Ensure you have your email username and password to hand. You can reset your password in the Customer Portal if you have lost this.

Configuring Galaxy S3 Mail:

  1. Begin by opening Settings in the phone.

  2. Once Settings is open, tap Add account

  3. Tap Email
  4. On the window that appears enter the following information:
    Email Address: type in the email address you configured in the Zen Customer Portal ( in this guide we have used the example address alpha@vectorsigma.myzen.co.uk).
    Password: type the password you chose when creating the email address in the Zen Customer Portal
  5. Once you have entered the detail tap Manual Setup

  6. Choose POP3 account

  7. On the Incoming server settings screen enter the following: 
    Username: your email address as set up in the portal
    Password: type the password you chose when creating the email address in the Zen Customer Portal. This should be carried over from the initial page where you entered it first. 
    POP3 server: mailhost.zen.co.uk 
    Security type: SSL 
    Port: 995 
    Delete mail from server: When I delete from inbox.
  8. When you have finished entering the information tap Next

  9. On the Outgoing server settings screen enter the following details: 
    SMTP server: mailhost.zen.co.uk 
    Security type: TLS or STARTTLS
    Port: 587
    Require sign-in: ticked
    User name and Password: the same details as entered for the inbound server settings
  10. When the information has been entered tap Next

  11. To be asked how often to check for new mail, and set notifications, tap Next a final time.

  12. Give the mail account a name so you can identify it easily should you have more than one account to set up.
  13. Add your name as you want it to appear on emails you send from this mail account. 
  14. Tap Done to complete adding your mail account to your Samsung Galaxy S3.
